The Institute of Molecular Medicine and Cell Research at the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg has to offer a post-doctoral position to a highly motivated individual starting from February 2011.

The successful candidate will work on a project focused on the analyses of post-translational modifications and their impact on the function of components of the Wnt/ß-catenin pathway. Strong emphasis will be given to molecular aspects of tissue- and stage-specific regulation of gene expression in colorectal tumorigenesis and in embryonic development, and to the interplay between Wnt/ß-catenin signaling and epigenetic factors (EMBO J. 19, 1839-50; J. While insights from psychology have been successfully integrated into mainstream economic theories in recent years, the focus has only recently shifted towards the analysis of how psychological effects can be used in a strategic settinga. Sophisticated players may exploit the psychology of unsophisticated players to their advantage. This may affect how employers pay employees, and how firms communicate with consumers. These and similar phenomena are addressed theoretically and experimentally by the research group.

We are looking for candidates with proven interest in theoretical microeconomics and experimental research, preferably in the area of industrial organization, non-cooperative game theory or the economics of social networks.

Applications are invited for a PhD position to investigate the effects of transnational territorial cooperation on European planning systems.

Over the past decade, there has been considerable financial and political support in the EU for transnational cooperation. Macro regions are expected to facilitate planning for large-scale functional areas and to improve policy coordination in the EU’s multi-level governance system. Yet there is currently limited insight into the effects of transnational territorial cooperation on spatial planning systems in European countries and regions, and there is a need for an improved theoretical understanding of the role of macro regions in Europe.
